Get to Know Us
Hi, I’m Sam - the artist behind Pointelier - and this is my ever-curious, beach-loving muse, Sofie, a spirited Hungarian Vizsla with a nose for friendship and a heart full of joy.
I’ve been a professional multimedia designer for over 25 years, and an artist since I was young child. I work across traditional and digital mediums to capture stories, emotions, and the beautiful little details that make life (and dogs!) so meaningful. My hands and heart are behind every custom portrait we create.
Sofie is pure joy wrapped in rust-gold fur. She’s a natural pointer, but she makes time to sniff, greet, and play with every friendly dog she meets. She's the inspiration for our atelier - equal parts curious, elegant, and wild. Together, we live on the rugged coast in a tiny fishing village where sea breezes sweep through our days, and beach walks are a daily ritual (yes, even when it’s windy!).
Our studio-home is filled with splashes of turquoise, and colorfully painted antique furniture. Here, we create art that’s soulful, personal, and a little bit magical - just like the bond between you and your dog.
We’re so glad you found us.
Our Artistic Philosophy
At Pointelier, we are dedicated to creating personalized art pieces that celebrate the tradition of creating art by hand while still embracing the advancements that digital technology brings. Like many others, we are morally conflicted about the use of AI in our art, and do not want to add to the ever-growing oversaturated market devaluing human craftmanship and skill. As such, none of our customer portraits on sale are generated by AI, all are made by our atelier master, Sam.
We recognize our decision to resist this technology may mean we are unable to survive the progress it brings, and we may at some point, have no choice but to adopt it into our workflow. But for now, we choose to swim upstream.
While we may use AI to generate marketing content, we will never generate a customer canine portrait using AI. Because we receive support from likeminded individuals such as yourself, this allows us to stand for human-made contributions within the artistic field, without which, AI would not have had any data to train on.
